Biography

Akshay is joining EAS as an atmospheric sciences Ph.D. student working with Prof. Angeline Pendergrass. Born and raised in India, he holds an M.Tech. in earth system sciences from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar (Class of 2021) and an M.Sc. in applied geology from Pondicherry University (Class of 2018). He has also received training in earth observation techniques from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Prior to joining Cornell, he worked as a Senior Research Fellow in the Water & Climate Lab at IIT Gandhinagar where he primarily focused on compound extremes associated with tropical cyclones over India. He is interested in understanding hydroclimatic extremes in a changing climate and how it impacts human systems.
