Geochemistry professor joins the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
Esteban Gazel Dondi joins the Cornell faculty as an Associate Professor of geochemistry in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Gazel comes to Cornell from Virginia Tech. He also holds an adjunct appointment at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University. Gazel earned his Ph.D. in geological sciences from Rutgers University in 2009. His thesis title was "Interaction of the Galapagos Plume with the Southern Central American Volcanic Front".
In 2016, Dr. Gazel received the Hisashi Kuno Award from the American Geophysical Union, Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology Section.
