EAS Students Receive AMS Awards

Three freshman EAS atmospheric science majors have received scholarships from the American Meteorological Society. The scholarships were announced in the September 2018 issue of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.

Julian Arnheim received the Edgar J. Saltsman Endowed Scholarship. Julian's areas of interest are climate change and biogeochemistry.

Aiden Mahoney received the Bernard Vonnegut and Vincent Schaefer Endowed Scholarship. Aiden's interests include tropical and severe weather, forecasting and research.

Jack Sillin received the Baron Services, Inc. Scholarship. Jack is interested in operational forecasting.

EAS graduate student, Marc Alessi '18, has been awarded the prestigious AMS Father James B. Macelwane Award. Alessi is now pursuing his master's degree in atmospheric science at Cornell.
