EAS mourns the loss of Emeritus Professor Art Bloom
Professor Emeritus Arthur L,. Bloom has died. Bloom’s academic career at Cornell began in 1960 as an assistant professor in the former geology department then part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Art Bloom is internationally known for his pioneering work on establishing the history of sea level during the last 125,000 years. Bloom’s comprehensive textbooks on geomorphology have been a widely used resource for decades. The Arthur L. Bloom Fund for Geological Sciences Research and Education in the Pacific Region was established in 2014 in his honor.
