Suzanne Mahlburg Kay elected GSA President

Suzanne Mahlburg Kay, Professor in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Cornell University, has been elected to the Office of President of the Geological Society of America for the term July 2013 – June 2014 and Councilor for the term July 2013 – June 2015.  Executive Director of GSA, John W. Hess, has announced that the results of the election will be ratified at the Annual Corporate Meeting to be held Saturday, 27 April 2013 in Colorado.  

Kay, who has served as the GSA President Elect in 2012-13, has given many invited talks nationally and internationally over the past year including trips to the 14th Congress of the Geological Society of Africa (a GSA affiliated society) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the European Geosciences Union in Vienna, Austria.

The annual meeting of the GSA will take place in Denver, Colorado October 27-30, 2013 with special programming to commemorate its 125th anniversary.
